Shimmer, sparkle and shine this New Years Eve! Ladies will often ask me for some simple ways to dress up their makeup for the holidays! If it is an important party or event I definitely recommend hiring a professional artist like myself to help you get fancy! This way you can be certain you will love the way you look!

If doing it yourself, here are some products, pics and tips to help you look fancy for your special night!

I LOVE this product! It is called “overshadow” and is designed to take your makeup from day to night. You just put it on top of your eyeshadow and it creates a beautiful shimmery finish…It is not glittery just shimmery which is a very subtle yet sexy way to be fancy! You can also use it on shoulders, cheeks and decolette to add a sophisticated shimmer!! You can find TheBalm at Sephora!

There are 4 shades…my 2 faves are “no money no honey” which is a beautiful ivory/gold shimmer and “if you’re rich I’m single” which is a little bronzey and great for a smokey look!

….remember to tap your brush out before you apply it otherwise you will have shimmer everywhere!!

Love glitter? Me too! MakeupForever makes some super fun and stand out glitters! A few ideas for glitter are to apply it with a wet brush on top of your eyeliner, on top of your eyeshadow or at the top of your cheekbones! You can find these Makeup Forever glitters at Sephora.

Here is  a beautiful example of glitter on top of eyeshadow! Fun and Fancy! You don’t have to do a smokey eye like this one. You can add glitter to even a soft look….just put on a little less!!

Another easy way to dress up your makeup is to line the water line of your eyes with a smokey liner. You can line both the top and bottom water lines for a beautifully dramatic look! I recommend using MAC fluidline in blacktrack & brush#231  for lining the top water line. It works great for the bottom water line as well but you can also use a waterproof MAC eyeliner…I love “engraved”. It can be easier to apply than the fluidline but you will end up having to reapply it during the night! Worth it though because it looks beautiful!

LASHES are a must for any special night out!! I always prefer the individual lashes because they look natural and beautiful but big sparkely lashes are fun too!! I recommend using a waterproof glue such as the DUO waterproof glue! Works wonderfully! If you are wearing lashes you MUST wear eyeliner in a dark shade preferably black or dark brown.

Individual lashes can be tricky to put on yourself but if you are getting ready with friends you can help each other! They can be applied using tweezers to hold on to them. Get a little bit of glue at the base of the lash and apply right into the lash line. Have the person look down or close their eyes so you can have easier access to the lash line. It is important to get them as close to the natural lash line as possible. The lashes should overlap just a little as you are putting them on.

If you are using a strip lash be sure to “paint” the strip the same color as your eyeliner. This helps to disguise it! Here is a link to a great video by MAC about how to apply strip lashes.

Dazzleglass lipglosses by MAC come in so many fun shades and are full of glitter! A definite FAVE of mine!

LipFusion is a plumper that really works and they have some beautiful colors! You can find Lip Fusion products at Sephora!

Last but definitely not least is HAIR SHIMMER!! Such a fun way to dress up your tresses! Sephora came out with their own line of hair shimmer and I love it! If hair shimmer is too much for you, how about a fun headband to dress things up? An amazing local place to find beautiful and unique hair pieces is Twigs & Honey. Some other great places to find fancy hairbands are: JCrew, Ann Taylor Loft, Anthropologie & Urban Outfitters!
